Netflix subscription at 3 euros per month could come to Italy

Netflix is reportedly thinking of extending the three-euro subscription to other developing nations. Will it come to Italy in the future?

Stream movies and TV series have become a regular appointment for many people around the world. The platforms that allow you to relax in front of your computer or smart TV are now many, but Netflix is certainly the most popular.

Usersersers can choose between different types of subscription: the basic one costs €7.99 per month; the standard one costs €11.99 per month; finally, the premium one costs €15.99. Of course, depending on the price, the platform offers different services and benefits. In order to choose the subscription that best suits your needs, Netflix provides a one-month free trial, so that users can see the entire extensive catalog of video content before signing the contract. Despite this, there are still some who do not decide to choose, and put off signing up for the service. To finally persuade these people, Netflix could introduce a subscription at the cost of 3€.

The 3 euro subscription for Netflix: what does it offer?

It is no secret that the company wants to increase the number of subscribers, and to achieve this goal it has already put into practice some ideas, such as showing some episodes for free.

In addition to this idea, Netflix wants to introduce a new subscription at three euros monthly, which allows you to watch the platform only from your smartphone. Currently, this type of service is already present in India, where you can pay a reduced amount to have the entire Netflix catalog on mobile. In the eastern country, the company has also modified the schedule by offering content with famous local actors or other local productions. The introduction of the low-cost smartphone subscription to many might seem like a ridiculous amount of money, but for so many people it could make all the difference.

During the press conference to present the 2019 Q3 report, Netflix let it be known that the €3 subscription has exceeded expectations in India and has been a huge success. As such, the company is considering offering it in other developing countries as well. For now, the idea that it will also arrive in Italy is only a distant hypothesis, also because the classic subscriptions have already conquered a large slice of the public. But what is the role of the channel in our country?

Netflix in Italy and the danger of competition

In spite of the fact that the number of subscribers is not growing exponentially, the platform has a good success in our country. This brake is also given by a very fierce competition, such as Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+. In addition to these, two other services are also coming, which will be launched in the United States soon, Disney+ and Hbo+. In short, the online streaming stage is now frequented by many players, and Netflix will have to invent new solutions in order not to lose ground.
