While once there were, and still are, Baby Monitors to monitor your baby remotely, now there’s the Neebo bracelet that does much… much more
Are you anxious parents who constantly check on your newborn while he’s sleeping and never leave him alone for a moment? Now you can take a break thanks to the Neebo bracelet that keeps an eye on the situation and alerts you if needed.
Neebo is a bracelet to be put on the wrist of newborns manufactured by Daatrics, a company based in Czechoslovakia. This baby wearable sends a continuous stream of accurate data from the baby to its parents via Bluetooth Low Energy. Neebo is programmed to answer a variety of questions such as, “is my baby breathing properly,” or, “is he too hot or cold,” as well as keep tabs on heart rate, oxygen saturation, thermal status, and ambient noise where the beloved newborn is. No parent would ever be too far away from their baby, but when fatigue sets in, a little help comes in very handy.

Neebo, it must be said at once, is not a medical device, although the manufacturer is trying to get approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. government agency that deals with the regulation of food and pharmaceutical products. So Neebo, too. The smart bracelet is, of course, equipped with sensors that can keep an eye on breathing – which is crucial especially in newborns – thanks to the heart rate monitor. Neebo is also able to check the oxygen level in a baby’s blood, which is one of the first alarm bells of heart disease or respiratory problems. It also checks the baby’s temperature. Neebo, in case the parents want it, also allows to listen (in a discreet way) to the environmental situation where the baby is, in order to control the work of the baby-sitter. A separate monitor, then, transmits incoming sounds from the baby. A separate monitor, then, transmits the incoming sounds from the baby. A bit like traditional baby monitors do, only that Neebo – thanks to artificial intelligence – is able to separate the normal sounds from the “unusual” ones, which, of course, it sends to the parents in the form of an alarm.
Is there a problem?
The baby monitor triggers the alarm
All the information detected by Neebo reaches the parents on their smartphone via a special application for Android and iOS. If the device encounters a problem – from heartbeat to unusual sounds – alerts will not only come via cell phone but also directly from Neebo or the charging station. The device, as mentioned, has a Bluetooth 4.0 connection as well as Wi-Fi. The collected data is stored on the cloud so parents can check on their baby even when they are away from home. Neebo also fully recharges in about an hour and runs non-stop for a full week, 20 days if it’s “on duty” only at night.
Is Neebo safe?
The bracelet is made of plastic but without a trace of BPA (i.e. bisphenol A), which has been found to be harmful after years, with the strap made of unpainted silicone, and is small enough to fit a newborn with a clasp that prevents it from coming undone. Daatrics also claims that Neebo does not emit any electromagnetic radiation of any kind because it is “shielded” by special algorithms. The bracelet, finally, is waterproof (IP67 standard) and able to remain under one meter of water for 30 minutes and it is not necessary to remove it for the classic bath. Neebo is available in pearl, turquoise, aqua and pink and is on sale for pre-order at the promotional price of $ 49 until the end of March, when the first shipments will begin. The final price will be $199.
