After challenging hackers, Elon Musk gets a warning from the Texas attorney. The Reason? He’s shutting down public beaches with private security.
In South Texas, SpaceX, Elon Musk’s space company, has taken over large tracts of land near Boca Chica Beach. And it is here that he is carrying out a series of experiments that, in the intentions of the CEO, should contribute to the first journey of mankind to the planet Mars.
Although the ultimate goal can not fail to arouse enthusiasm, for those who live near Boca Chica Beach, SpaceX experiments are the source of many problems. Starting, for example, with the continuous traffic, one of the side effects of the closure of some roads by the company, in conjunction with some of the experiments.
Why Musk was warned by the Texas DA
The situation reached a boiling point when the Texas District Attorney’s Office delivered a warning to SpaceX that by closing public beaches for a long time and using unlicensed private guards to remove onlookers and citizens from off-limits areas, the space company could be violating several rules.
There’s more. In fact, it seems that SpaceX’s failed experiments, which sometimes end in a spectacular detonation, scatter debris from exploded vehicles on beaches open to vacationers. And of course Texans don’t like this one bit.
Hence the intervention of the District Attorney of Cameron County, of which Boca Chica Beach is part. According to a memo obtained by CNN and dated June 11, the judicial officer warns SpaceX against actions that could make the company and employees “subject to arrest and prosecution.”
What happened between Musk and hackers, what Musk has to do with cryptocurrencies
Before Musk vs. the state of Texas, the challenge between Musk and Anonymous hackers also made headlines, an affair to which the Tesla founder alluded as a set-up.
But not a week goes by that Musk doesn’t make people talk about him. This is especially true with regard to cryptocurrencies (in particular dogecoin), the object of desire of many and a very risky investment according to financial authorities. In the field, Musk has become so accredited that by now he manages to make the quotations collapse with a single tweet.
