Motorola 2018 smartphones, unveiled in advance the G6, X5 and Z3

A preview of the site Droid Life has laid bare the features of almost all Motorola smartphones coming out in 2018. Here’s what they will look like

After a 2017 in which it sought a relaunch in the international arena, 2018 is the year of confirmation for Motorola. And for this reason Lenovo (the Chinese company that bought the brand) is working hard to develop new devices.

But Motorola’s strategy for 2018 may have suffered a setback. The site Droid Life has previewed most of the Motorola smartphones coming out in 2018. From the G6, to the X5, via the Moto Z3 and Moto G6 Plus, all the major devices have been revealed by the US site (complete with images depicting the phones). The anticipation of Droid Life has also been confirmed by Evan Blass, a journalist always well informed about the world of smartphones. For a company like Motorola that was looking for the relaunch after years a bit ‘complicated it’s a bad blow, but the news could also be used to create hype around the release of smartphones.

In fact, from the anticipations you can perceive that Lenovo has worked hard to update their devices and make them in step with the times. There will be an 18:9 aspect ratio screen on all 2018 smartphones (even on entry-levels), while premium models might mount the fingerprint sensor under the screen. Here are the specifications of the Moto G6, Moto X5 and Moto Z3.

Moto G6 features

Motorola’s G series is one of the company’s most successful ones. Three devices will be launched for 2018: the Moto G6, the Moto G6 Plus and the Moto G6 Play.

According to Droid Life previews, the Moto G6 will have a 5.7-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and FullHD+ resolution. The size of the bezels will be very small, so as to minimize the space for the fingerprint reader (which will be inserted in the front). The hardware will consist of a Snapdragon 450 chipset with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal memory (depending on the model). At the back will find place a dual camera with a 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel one. In the front there will be a 16 Megapixel camera. 3000 mAh battery. The website also anticipates the launch price, which for the U.S. market will be $240. It is likely to arrive in Europe at 249 or 299 euros. Presentation at Mobile World Congress 2018.

Features Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play

The Moto G6 Plus will be Motorola’s reference mid-range in 2018. The smartphone will mount a Snapdragon 630 chipset with 3/4/6GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage (depending on the model chosen). The screen will have a size of 5.93 inches with a form factor of 18:9 and FullHD+ resolution. As for the photo compartment, it will be identical to that of the G6: dual front camera with 12 and 5 Megapixel sensors and 16 Megapixel front camera. 3200 mAh battery. Also in this case Droid life anticipates the price: on the U.S. market it will be launched at $330. Presentation at the Mobile World Congress 2018.

The Moto G6 Play, on the other hand, is dedicated to those who are looking for a smartphone with good value for money. The smartphone will mount a Snapdragon 430 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The screen will be 5.7” with HD+ resolution. In the back we will find only a 13-megapixel photo sensor and there will also be a fingerprint reader (on which will be imprinted the “M” of Motorola). The price should be around 160-200 euros.

Features Moto X5

The Moto X5 will be one of the most unique smartphones produced by Motorola in recent years. From the images released by Droid Life, the phone will have a notch like the iPhone X where there will be two cameras and face recognition sensors. In fact, the Moto X5 shouldn’t have a fingerprint reader (unless Motorola opts for a fingerprint sensor hidden under the screen). Instead of the physical Home button, there will be a semi-transparent virtual button. The Moto X5 will also integrate artificial intelligence features, which will improve image quality and make it easier to use the smartphone. The device’s screen is 5.9 inches with 18:9 aspect ratio and FullHD+ resolution.

Features Moto Z3 and Moto Z3 Play

Motorola’s new Z-series smartphones will be the US company’s premium models for 2018. The Moto Z3 Play and Moto Z3 will feature an extreme borderless design with very thin bezels. For this reason, there is no physical fingerprint reader sensor that will probably be replaced by Synaptcs’ new biometric sensor integrated inside the display and facial recognition. The Moto Z3 Play will have a 6-inch screen with FullHD resolution with slightly bent sides, while the Moto Z3 will mount a display with a higher resolution. Confirmed the presence of MotoMods, the accessories that plug into the back of the smartphone and add very useful features (new ones will be developed for 2018). Little information regarding the technical compartment: the only certainty concerns the presence of the Snapdragon 845 on the Moto Z3. The release of the two smartphones will be for the second half of 2018.
