Moto Z3, features, release date and price

Motorola has unveiled in Chicago the new Moto Z3, the world’s first smartphone to support 5G. On board the Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory

From its headquarters in Chicago, Motorola announced the new Moto Z3, a smartphone with (almost) top-of-the-line features and the first in the world to support 5G connectivity (thanks to a new Moto Mods that the U.S. company has made together with Verizon).

The design follows the Motorola smartphones released in recent months: very thin bezels on all sides and the lack of the notch at the top. The body is super durable and made of reinforced 6000 series aluminum, which protects it from bumps and drops. The rear camera protrudes slightly out, with the lenses that are positioned horizontally.  Reading the data sheet, we can see that the smartphone is not a true top of the line: on board we find the Snapdragon 835 processor, released last year and now surpassed by the Snapdragon 845. But the real strength of the Moto Z3 is the support for the 5G network, which in the coming years will be present in all major cities of the World.

Schedule Moto Z3

As mentioned, the Moto Z3 mounts a SoC Snapdragon 835 with to support 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory expandable up to 256GB with a microSD. The Super AMOLED screen is 6.01′ with FullHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. At the rear finds place a dual camera with both 12 Megapixel sensors. The main one has a focal aperture of 2.0, while the secondary one takes monochrome images. On the front is an 8 Megapxiel camera with an f/2.0 aperture with a wide-angle lens of 84 degrees. 3000 mAh battery with TurboPower fast charging. The Moto Z3 resists shocks thanks to the 6000 series aluminum shell.

5G Connection

The most interesting feature of the smartphone is the support for 5G connection. To surf with 5G you need to use a Moto Mods, the accessories that attach to the back cover of Motorola smartphones and add accessory functionality. The Moto Mods in question was made by Motorola with the support of Verizon (U.S. phone operator) and features a Snapdragon X50 modem inside that is compatible with 5G networks (there is also a 2000 mAh battery to power the modem). The new Moto Mods will be able to be used on all Motorola smartphones that support the accessories.

Price and release date Moto Z3

The smartphone will be available from next August 16 in the United States for all Verizon customers at a price of $480. For the moment Motorola has not provided any further information about an upcoming release of the Moto Z3 on the European market, but it is very likely that we will have to wait a few more months.
