It’s almost time: the second Thursday of March there will be the first monthly extraction of the Lottery of receipts: here’s what is important to know not to lose the prize.
March 11 is approaching and, with it, also the first extraction of the Lottery of receipts, the second pillar of the Cashless Italy strategy after the State Cashback. From March 11, the monthly extractions will take place every second Thursday of the month, until December 9.
The weekly extractions, however, will begin in June while the date of the annual extraction of 5,000,000 euros for buyers and 1,000,000 for merchants has not yet been established. The mechanism set up by the Monopolies Agency and the Revenue Agency, which manage the lottery in tandem, provides for precise rules and steps in case of winning. Fortunately, unlike the State Cashback, the experience of Italian public administrations with the management of lotteries is more than ten years old and this should avoid problems. But, at least in the initial phase of running the mechanism, it will be good to pay attention to some details to avoid losing the prizes won. Here is what it is useful to know.
Lottery of the receipts: the PEC issue
As we have explained in detail in another article, during the registration to the Lottery of the Receipts both the buyers and the merchants can insert a certified electronic mail address PEC to which the Monopolies Agency and the Revenue Agency will send the communications.
It is not compulsory to do it, but it is extremely useful: the PEC has the same value of a registered letter A/R but it is much faster and safer. However, you have to pay attention to which PEC you insert in your private area: it is necessary that it is owned by the person who made the purchase that generated the winning ticket.
In the opposite case (for example if the wife indicates the PEC address of her husband or son) the PEC cannot be sent for privacy reasons. Exactly as for the traditional lotteries with paper ticket, in fact, the ticket is personal and the winner is secret.
Lottery of the receipts: what happens when you win
The other thing to pay attention to, after receiving the PEC or the registered letter A/R that communicates the winning of a prize, is at this point triggers the obligation to physically present oneself within 90 days at the office of the Monopolies Agency competent for territory (it depends on the municipality of residence or the tax domain of the winner).in this way the winner will be able to unlock the payment, which will then take place only by bank or postal transfer. After 90 days, however, the prize will be considered unclaimed and can no longer be claimed.
