LG Electronics has announced the DualUp monitor, a special square panel dedicated to those who perform high-level creative tasks
After announcing the first UltraGear series gaming laptop, LG Electronics is back in the news anticipating two more devices that will be unveiled during CES 2022 in Las Vegas. These are two premium monitors aimed at creative professionals: LG UltraFine Diplay (32UQ85R) and DualUp Monitor (28MQ780).
The second one is definitely the most unique one: it’s as if it consists of two 16:9 format displays overlapping each other, but seamlessly. This is a perfect device for multitasking, which allows you to view many applications at once, also thanks to the contribution of Windows 11. The new Microsoft operating system, in fact, allows LG DualUp Monitor to use features such as Snap Layout, to distribute the windows on various portions of the screen, and Snap Groups, to group them and be able to access them without clicking on each of them individually.
LG DualUp Monitor, how it is made
LG DualUp has a diagonal of 28 inches and an unusual appearance (almost) square with a 16:18 ratio. Precisely because of this particular configuration, LG has named the display resolution Square Double Quad HD, corresponding to 2560×2800 pixels. The margins are extremely small and the screen covers almost all of the available space (to be exact 98%).
The solution adopted by the Korean manufacturer could be very useful in the video editing phase, as well as showing some published photographs. In fact, during editing, it would be possible to hold the timeline in the lower part of the monitor, while simultaneously displaying the video preview in the upper part, completely filling this part of the display.
The monitor has two built-in speakers of 7 watts each, the minimum essential for sound reproduction. In addition, thanks to a very special and functional support, you can adjust height, tilt and rotation. Finally, we find a USB type C port that supports 96 Watt output and DisplayPort Alt mode, two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort and two USB ports of downstream and upstream type respectively.
LG DualUp Monitor, when it will arrive
In addition to the DualUp square monitor LG also announced an UltraFine display, a more traditional model with a 32-inch diagonal, 16:9 aspect ratio, 4K resolution and built-in 5W speakers. However, for both, just like for the UltraGear gaming laptop, it has not yet given precise indications regarding the possible release date, let alone pricing information.
We’ll have to wait until the first days of January to find out more, namely when CES 2022 will be held. LG Electronics intends to unveil numerous new products and currently we are only seeing the appetizer of what we will see.
