The film, starring Renato Pozzetto and Stefania Sandrelli, arrives in its world premiere in February: here’s what it’s about, cast and how to see it.
While waiting for the health emergency to end and theaters to reopen to the public, many art-house films are coming out on TV on demand and streaming platforms. One of these is the latest work of director Pupi Avati, entitled Lei mi parla ancora. It is a dramatic film inspired by the novel of the same name by Giuseppe Sgarbi.
It tells the story of the meeting between two men, Nino, who has just lost his wife and Amicangelo, who helps him to react and convinces him to write a book about his long love story with Caterina. Thus, the couple becomes the splendid protagonist of the film, which reveals the evolution of a love that lasted 65 years. The cast includes important Italian actors, such as Stefania Sandrelli and Renato Pozzetto, who play Caterina and Nino, respectively. The film is produced by Bartlebyfilm and Vision Distribution. It will be available as a world premiere on Sky and NOW TV in February.
Lei mi parla ancora: trama del film
The film starts with the death of Caterina, Nino’s wife of 65 years. The man feels lost, but meets in Amicangelo, an editor hired by the daughter of Nino and Caterina, with the aim of convincing the man to overcome the grief through the writing of a novel. The story must focus, of course, on his long love and family building with Caterina. So, Nino, with the help of his friend and professional, begins to tell page after page of his relationship, which will never end even with the loss of his wife.
Giuseppe Sgarbi, author of the novel from which the film is based, writes in the novel: “Until death do you part is a lie. The bare minimum. A love like ours goes much further.
Lei mi parla ancora: cast
In the all-Italian cast we find Renato Pozzetto and Stefania Sandrelli, in the role of Nino and Caterina as adults. In the younger version they are played instead by Isabella Ragonese and Lino Musella. Fabrizio Gifuni instead dresses the role of Amicangelo.
The cast is completed by Chiara Caselli, Alessandro Haber, Serena Grandi, Gioele Dix and Nicola Nocella. The writing is instead entrusted to Pupi and his son, the screenwriter and writer Tommaso Avati.
The director has expressed great satisfaction on the release of the film: “Imagining to enter the homes of Italians with a story so “intimate” and personal, with a story so “affectionate”, can not flatter us. In short, the wait is almost over: Sky subscribers will be able to preview the work. Here’s when.
Lei mi parla ancora: uscita
As mentioned, the film will be available starting February 8 on Sky Cinema and on demand, but also in streaming on NOW TV.
