After much speculation comes the official confirmation: Samsung’s new foldables will be compatible with the S Pen stylus, and there will be no Galaxy Note 21.
It’s been months that there is a lot of talk about Samsung’s new foldables, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, now close to launch along with Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, the two new smartwatches from Seoul. With the presentation that is imminent, however – they will come out of the event Galaxy Unpacked on August 11 – rumors have not loosened their grip.
And if a few days ago the rumors have traced what should be the prices of the two foldable Samsung, now we return to the topic because of an official source as it is Dr. TM Roh. The president of Samsung Mobile has published an editorial in which, of course, he did not reveal in advance the features of the foldables, smartwatches or other products that should come out of the Galaxy Unpacked, but made an excursus on what the company has taken into account for the development of new products. Most importantly for fans of the Galaxy Note line, which won’t have a representative this year, is the certainty of the foldables’ compatibility with the beloved S Pen.
Coming soon, the first S Pen for foldables
Roh revealed that from the August 11 event will come, among other things, “the first S Pen designed specifically for foldable smartphones,” which could mean that the company could name it something specific, such as S Pen Fold Edition just as rumors had suggested in the past.
It is also rumored that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 (and possibly also Galaxy Z Flip 3) could also support the S Pen Pro announced at the beginning of the year and still not available for purchase but that sooner or later will have to come on the market. In short, the rumors abound and probably never as on this occasion there has been so much anticipation around the Galaxy Unpacked because of the news in a certain sense revolutionary that is expected to come out.
Already the lack of a Galaxy Note whose shoes will pass, at least in part, to the future that advances, ie the foldable Samsung, is one of the aspects that have come to generate many expectations around the event of August 11, and Samsung will be good not to disregard them.
“Rather than launching a new Galaxy Note on this occasion, we have chosen to further increase the number of Samsung Galaxy devices that adopt the most popular Note features,” Roh wrote, confirming the absence of Samsung’s iconic home Note.
The best of smartphones and tablets
Roh used the opportunity to ride on the hype of what’s to come on August 11 to talk about the upcoming foldable Galaxy: “The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold brings together all the best of smartphones and tablets and enables completely new ways to work, connect and create, while the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip gets even more refined styling and features more durable and strong materials.
I strongly believe these devices will meet the demand for the versatile mobile technology so necessary to tackle the road ahead.” To understand what success they can hope to achieve with Seoul’s new generation of foldables, however, it will be important to see what they have to offer, and especially whether prices will drop as previously speculated.
