IPhone, with iOS 14 comes the recording of calls

Apple wants to introduce with iOS 14 the recording of phone calls on the iPhone: here’s how the tool should work

Apple would be working on a new feature coming in iOS 14: the recording of calls, both those made on FaceTime and the “normal” ones. This is a real breakthrough for the Cupertino company, which until now had never considered this feature to preserve user privacy. The feature will be implemented directly at the operating system level and should be very simple to use.

The rumor comes from the IT Home portal, but from Apple there is no confirmation. To know more we have to wait for June 22, the day in which WWDC 2020 will begin, the annual conference that Apple organizes with developers and that this year will be only virtual. The tool to record calls could, however, be released only in some countries, according to different rules and laws. In Italy, for example, the recording of calls on the iPhone should arrive: the law, in fact, does not prohibit it.

iOS 14, how does the recording of calls on the iPhone work

There is not much information about how the recording of calls on the iPhone should work. Apple is still working on the project and it is not sure that it will be implemented already on iOS 14, the next update of the mobile operating system coming in September. iOS 14 will be a turning point for the Cupertino company: rumors speak of the implementation of new features that will bring a change even at the user interface level. There is talk, in fact, of the arrival of widgets, ie mini-applications available directly on the home page that allow you to interact with the most important functions.

And in this mini-revolution brought by iOS 14, the recording of calls would fit like a glove. Apple, however, wants to make sure the feature is respectful of user privacy, one of the Cupertino-based company’s cornerstones. Moreover, in some countries call recording is not allowed by law and Apple will not be able to release it.

Call Recording, what does Italian law provide

Is it possible to record phone calls in Italy? The answer is yes. According to Italian law, it is not an offence to record a call, even without asking for the interlocutor’s consent. Our advice, to be fair, is to always ask for consent and to warn the other person that the call will be recorded.

The new feature of iOS 14, if it will be really released, should then arrive in Italy.
