Google One, app coming to both Android and iOS: 15GB of free storage for your iPhone backups too
Google One, Google’s cloud storage service, is already available for Android devices, but will soon be coming to iPhone as well. The app, which includes other features such as Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, allows automatic backup of your smartphone data and is free.
Using Google One provides users with free cloud storage space of up to 15GB, more than enough to save important phone backups, emails or photos. Google has decided to extend its service also to those who own an iOS device, to save on the Google account contacts, calendar appointments, photos, videos and more. A feature, however, that could go unnoticed in the eyes of those who use an iPhone, since Apple already has backup options for its users with 5GB of storage space on iCloud.
Google One, soon also for iOS devices
The Google One account to store your documents, photos and data online already exists and provides a free basic plan, which provides 15 GB of space on the cloud, and other paid plans starting from 100 GB at 2 euros per month. Now Google is ready to release a dedicated app so that managing your files is easier right from your smartphone. The app is coming in the next few days to the Play Store for Android devices, but Google has let it be known that it will soon be available for iOS devices as well, and may also include a “storage manager” for easy and intuitive management of your smartphone’s storage and your cloud.
Google One, does it work for iOS devices?
Although the iPhone novelty of Google One is very interesting, the app might not catch on much among Apple users, as this one provides a very similar backup service on iCloud, but only 5GB free. If the free version of Google One might not be of interest, Apple users could probably opt for the paid version, thus getting at least 100GB of space where they can upload photos and documents. Quel che è certo, è che avere una possibilità in più per eseguire il backup del nostro smartphone, sia esso Android che iOS, non è mai un fattore negativo.
