From August 30, Instagram will give up swipe up for Stories. In its place a sticker dedicated to links: here are the advantages
No more Swipe up in Stories from August 30 next. Instagram has announced this, putting an end to the swipe up that so far has given the opportunity to visit a link inserted in the Stories to replace it with a sticker created specifically, which was in testing since June for some accounts and that now will come in stable for all.
The new sticker created by Instagram will replace from August 30 the swipe up of the Stories, then the tool used by influencers and more generally by accounts with many followers to attach a link to a Stories, a link to a website through which, for example, you can get more information about a particular product, buy it, or read an article, subscribe to a service or go, via browser, wherever the account that created the Stories wanted to direct us. Users who could and will be able to attach a link to a Stories will therefore, in a few days, enjoy the greater flexibility of the sticker created specifically by the platform of the Facebook group.
First advantage: respond to the Stories
The change introduced by Instagram is not an end in itself. It’s not an exercise in style or a quirk of the social developers, but a novelty that will help make the mechanism even more efficient than in the past and more enjoyable for those who follow accounts that attach links to Stories.
Currently, in fact, Instagram accounts that insert a link to a Stories give the viewer the opportunity to drag their finger upwards to open the link. This system, however, means that you can’t reply to the Stories with a reaction or a message, because the swipe up occupies the lower portion of the screen, the same reserved for the box to react or reply to the Stories.
Now it’s impossible to reply to a Stories to which a link is attached, while you can do it – and at the same time keep the opportunity to visit the web page proposed by the person who made the Stories – thanks to the sticker.
Second advantage: constraints are dropped
Not only that, there is another advantage. The freedom for influencers, creators, and all those who had a fair number of people following and therefore the ability to attach links to Instagram Stories, to have no constraints on the placement of the link. In other words, currently the position of the link is fixed: it can only be at the bottom, the user viewing the Stories is given the only possibility to swipe up.
Thanks to the sticker, instead, creators will be able to place the same anywhere in the Stories, thus gaining more control over them: the sticker can be “dressed”, like all the others, in different styles, it can be resized or placed in any area of the Stories, in short, it is an additional tool to get the most out of the experience on social and to interact in a better way with followers.
