Huawei ready to bring big news to smartphones

Huawei has opened user testing for Huawei Mobile Services 4.0. Here’s what they’re for and who can participate

Huawei is experiencing a period of great vitality: the trade block imposed by Donald Trump seems to have given an extra boost to the Chinese company that has decided to invest heavily in the software development of its smartphones. One of the most striking results are the Huawei Mobile Services, the mobile services that will replace those of Google. What are they about? Tools and features that enrich the device.

An example of a Huawei Mobile Service is the Huawei ID to access the smartphone, or Huawei Video, Huawei Mobile Cloud, Gallery, Huawei Browser and Huawei Themes. App Gallery, Huawei’s app store, also falls within these services offered by the Chinese company. As you might have guessed, this is a group of apps that helps users do without Google apps like Gmail, Google Maps, Google Photos. Huawei is betting a lot on these mobile services and has invested several billion dollars in recent months, so much so that it is ready to bring them to most of its devices.

The Chinese company is now ready to release the fourth version of the mobile services and has asked its users for help in testing the new features. Those who want can try a preview of Huawei Mobile Services 4.0 and help the company quickly fix bugs. Here are the smartphones involved.

Huawei Mobile Services 4.0, testing begins

A new phase begins for Huawei. The Chinese company is ready to test Huawei Mobile Services 4.0, the new generation of mobile services that allows smartphones to make up for the lack of Google apps.

The start of testing allows Huawei to gather initial feedback on all the new features designed for smartphones. Becoming independent from Google is not easy, but the Chinese company is proving that nothing is impossible.

Huawei Mobile Services 4.0, the smartphones involved

There are four models on which Huawei has asked for community support to test the new version of mobile services. They are the Huawei Nova 3, Huawei P20 Lite, Huawei Enjoy 10 and Honor Play 8A. Four entry-level or mid-range models that came out a while ago, but that have had a good success with the public. The choice of the models is not random: all four smartphones mount EMUI 9.1, a signal that Huawei wants to bring HMS 4.0 to older devices as well.

Who can participate in the tests

For the moment, the tests are only open to Chinese users, but in the coming months European users will also be able to participate. To be able to help Huawei develop fourth-generation mobile services, simply download the HMS app from the App Gallery.
