To watch Tivùsat channels you need a working system, a decoder and a smart card. Here’s how to do it
Tivùsat is the free alternative to digital terrestrial television that citizens living in Italy can use to watch TV channels. Unfortunately, the digital terrestrial signal does not cover the entire peninsula and there are some scarcely inhabited or particularly inaccessible areas where it does not arrive. For this reason was born Tivùsat, a free platform wanted by the main Italian television operators that allows the reception of many free channels via satellite dish.
The system used is similar to that of Sky: it is necessary to have a system (i.e. the satellite dish), a satellite decoder or a TV with integrated decoder and a Tivùsat smart card. Compared to Sky, the satellite platform is completely free: the only cost is that of the decoder and the installation (in case you don’t already have an old dish used for Tele+ or Sky). Using Tivùsat is not particularly complicated, you just need to have all the tools and correctly position the dish.
What you need to watch Tivùsat
The procedure to follow to watch TV channels via Tivùsat is not particularly complicated. First of all you need to have all the necessary tools: satellite system, satellite decoder and a Tivùsat smart card.
Positioning the satellite system correctly is of fundamental importance: you have to point the dish on the Eutelsat 13° East satellite. At this point you can connect the dish with the decoder (compatible with Tivùsat) and then the latter to the TV set. Some of the latest generation televisions integrate the satellite decoder: if they are equipped with the common interface slot, all you need to do is purchase a CAM (Conditional Access Module) to watch Tivùsat. Once the installation is complete, it is necessary to activate the smart card of the platform.
Before completing this last step, a small precaution is necessary: if you already use a Sky decoder, it is necessary to connect and configure correctly the two platforms so that there are no problems. In addition, to be sure that the decoder supports Tivùsat, check that the box has the stamp that distinguishes the platform.
How to activate the Tivùsat card
The last step to be taken to see Tivùsat is to activate the platform’s card. You can do it in two ways: online or by calling the customer service. Remember to insert the smart card in the decoder or in the CAM before the start of the procedure.
To activate the Tivùsat card over the phone you need to call 06 89 18 95 and carefully follow everything the call center operator says. If, on the other hand, you opt for the online method, you need to enter the Tivùsat website, create a personal profile and access the appropriate section. To activate the smart card you need to fill in two online forms and send the request. In a few minutes the signal of the satellite platform will be activated.
