How to record calls with Huawei and Honor smartphones

With the new version of EMUI, Huawei and Honor users will be able to natively record incoming and outgoing calls. Here’s how to do it

No more rooting or testing apps in hopes that they’ll work. With the upcoming EMUI update, if you have a Huawei or Honor smartphone it will be a breeze to be able to record calls with your smartphone. As noted by a user of the XDA forum (“virtual square” frequented by independent Android developers), in the next version of the GUI customization developed by the Chinese manufacturer will be included a utility to record calls.

As mentioned, therefore, you will no longer need to install applications from third-party developers, nor root your device. As it already happens with Android smartphones from other manufacturers (such as Xiaomi, to name one), recording incoming or outgoing phone calls will take just a handful of seconds.

How to record calls with Huawei

If you have an Honor or Huawei smartphone and want to record a call, there’s not much you can do. All you have to do is wait for the new Huawei GUI update – usually distributed as a system update and not downloadable, therefore, from the Play Store – and check inside the call app.

To start recording you’ll first have to initiate a call and, while the conversation is in progress, tap on the “Record” button. As seen in the screenshots spread on XDA, the button should appear in the call screen and should be the first one on the left of the top row. We don’t know yet if this will be its final layout, but all indications are that it will be.

After the call ends, the recording will be saved inside the recorder’s folder: to listen to the conversation again, all you have to do is open the app and click on the file you just created.
