How to read WhatsApp messages without letting the sender know

The Unseen app lets you read incoming messages on WhatsApp without popping up the obnoxious double blue checkmark. Here’s how it works

Since WhatsApp added the double blue tick feature in messages, it’s more difficult to read a conversation without letting the sender know. Of course, from the settings we can always remove this feature, but so even we won’t know if others have read our text.

You should not despair, however. Fortunately, there is a way to read an incoming conversation in the messaging application without letting the sender know. There are several reasons for not responding immediately in a chat, but not all our excuses can be accepted by friends and relatives. To avoid unnecessary arguments, it’s best to rely on a third-party app called Unseen – No Last Seen. Unfortunately, this service is currently only available on Android smartphones. So, if you have an iPhone, you’ll have to resort to an “old trick”.

This is a very simple technique to put into practice. As we receive the notification of the message we disable the data connection or Wi-Fi. At that point we enter into WhatsApp and we can read the message, which from the app is saved by default. In this way we will not send any notification. We then exit the application and reactivate the connection.

Using the Unseen app

Much more convenient, for those who have an Android smartphone, is to use the Unseen application. The service works in a simple way: it allows us to read messages without sending the notification, and therefore the double blue tick, to the sender. And the app works not only on WhatsApp but also on Telegram, Facebook Messenger and Viber. At this point you may be wondering what the trick is. Unseen intercepts messages as they arrive on WhatsApp and copies them inside its own platform. When we receive a new text, all we have to do is open Unseen to view it without letting the person who sent it know. As if that weren’t enough, the app is also able to do the same task with incoming photos and videos. It should be mentioned that the app is free but contains several ads.

How to set up Unseen

To allow Unseen to work once we’ve downloaded it we have to go to Settings and authorize the app to access the services that interest us, so in this case WhatsApp. To do all this all we have to do is take the Android smartphone click on Settings, then Apps. On the page that appears we must select the Advanced item and from the pop-up menu we must click on App Permissions. Also Unseen by default creates conversation previews whenever a message arrives. These have a graphic aspect that is very reminiscent of the notifications on Facebook Messenger.
