Telegram is one of the most popular instant messaging applications in the world, complementary to WhatsApp in many ways. You can send text messages, photos, videos, gifs, custom stickers, attachments and much more, in addition to the fact that you can create group chats and channels with thousands of potential members. What distinguishes Telegram and represents one of its greatest strengths, is the attention to the privacy of the users. By activating certain features you can, for example, remove from Telegram settings the last login recently made on the app and enter other info in the privacy, data protection and security section. Let’s take a closer look at the process.

Some info you need to know to make yourself invisible on Telegram

Telegram, as mentioned above, offers various solutions to set privacy according to your desires, for a less compulsive use of messaging, for a more eco-friendly management of online communication and to practice different activities on the phone anonymously, without being contacted continuously by intrusive users. Among the various settings of the app, the one that allows you to remove the last recent access on Telegram continues to be very successful. But what does it mean?

Before going to see the process for various devices and with various operating systems, it’s good to remember that by hiding your logins, you’ll lose the ability to see your contacts’ last access on Telegram as well. It should also be said that removing all traces of your presence on Telegram is not entirely possible, since other users will see, however, some information about your accesses, although very vague, such as: “last accessed recently”, if you have recently joined the app, or “last accessed in the week” if you have not connected for a few days, or “last accessed in the current month” if you have not connected in recent weeks, and “last accessed a long time ago”, if you are missing from Telegram for longer. Another info to keep in mind is that if you are writing a message to a person, if that person is online and with the chat screen open, they will see the wording in progress “is writing” under your saved name even if, then, you do not send the message anymore and they will notice, therefore, that you are connected in chat.

Silencing logins on Telegram from phone and tablet

To make your online presence more secretive, you can decide to hide your last login on Telegram and also not to show everyone when you are actually online. Let’s see how to do it from smartphones and tablets. As first thing, open the app present on your device and select the icon on the left of the home page with the three horizontal lines that represents the Settings, then click on the cog icon and go to the Privacy and Security item.

Scroll down to the Privacy section where you’ll find some options, therefore, go to “Last Access and Online” and you’ll be presented with some preferences regarding who can see your last recent access on Telegram and that is: all your contacts or no one. If you want to wear the virtual invisibility cloak for everyone, proceed by typing on None and in this way your contacts will no longer be able to get info about your last access or your online presence on Telegram. On the same screen you can add exceptions, choosing not to share your status with certain people that you’ll have to select specifically, or you can choose contacts with whom, instead, you’ll continue to share your info regarding your accesses on Telegram. In case you change your mind, you can go back to the old settings very easily with a few small clicks, or, vice versa, you can continue to add or remove contacts as you like.

Silencing accesses on Telegram from computer

If you need to know how to decrease your visibility on Telegram from computer (on Windows PC, Mac and also with Linux operating system), the process is similar to that for smartphones and tablets. Go to the app by clicking on the wheel icon and select the Privacy and Security option. Proceed, then, on the Last Login item and click on None, which you will find in the “Who can see my last login” section. Here again, in the desktop version of Telegram, you can decide to show your last recent login only to some very specific contacts. Just access the Settings by clicking on the cog icon and flag the Privacy and Security option, setting the “None” entry next to the “Last Access” wording, then click on “Share” again with and add the contacts you prefer.
