How to enable and use “Do not disturb while driving” on iPhone

Introduced with iOS 11, the feature prevents drivers from receiving notifications while driving. Here’s how to enable it

At the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple, as you know, presented iOS 11, its new mobile operating system, renewed in design, compared to previous versions, and that above all includes some interesting features. Among which stands out, among others, the new feature “Do not disturb while driving”.

This is a service developed with the aim of improving safety behind the wheel of users of the bitten apple. The feature basically prevents the driver from using the smartphone. The “Do Not Disturb While Driving”, in fact, works by blocking the arrival of new notifications. And that’s not all. The sender will receive a message, sent automatically by the phone, with which he will be informed that the person sought is driving and can not respond. The feature introduced in iOS 11, now available in the second beta version, will, however, allow some emergency numbers to overcome the block imposed by the “Do not disturb while driving”. But how is it activated?

How to activate the feature

To enable the feature is very simple: it takes, in fact, just a few steps. First, you need to open the iPhone settings and click on the “Do not disturb” item. At this point all we have to do is look for the “Do not disturb while driving” feature and select it. Now we’ll have to choose whether to allow the feature to activate automatically, when it is connected to the car’s Bluetooth, or manually. The first option will enable Apple’s security service as soon as it senses that the user is on the move.

Next, we’ll have to choose to whom we want to send the automatic response message: to “Nobody”, to “Recent” contacts, to “Favorite” contacts or to “All contacts”. Finished? Almost. Always remaining in the same menu, if we want, we can also select the text of the message to send.
