Among the dozens of new features introduced with Android 8, Google has also thought about how to improve the security of public Wi-Fi connections
There are several new features introduced by Google with Android 8 Oreo, the new version of the operating system for mobile devices being distributed in these weeks. From the different management of notifications to new energy saving modes, users will have to get used to dozens of new tools and features.
Among these, peeps also a more “intelligent” and secure management of connectivity to Wi-Fi networks. The engineers and technicians of the house of Mountain View, in making Android Oreo, have focused their efforts on the front of computer security (think Play Protect, just to give an example), going to improve the system of connection to wireless networks. In particular, Android 8’s new security measures will allow you to surf with greater ease and peace of mind thanks to public Wi-Fi networks, which are usually used by hackers and cybercriminals to steal data and information from unsuspecting users.
Automatically accessing saved public Wi-Fi networks
First of all, the developers of the green robot’s operating system have thought about how to speed up the connection to already known Wi-Fi networks. In this way, whenever you will be in the vicinity of an access point of a wireless network saved in the system, the device will automatically connect, thus saving dozens and dozens of seconds. To activate this feature you’ll need to go to the phone’s Settings, press on the Wi-Fi item and scroll until you find Wi-Fi Preferences. Here activate Connect to open networks and you’re done.
Obviously, Google doesn’t leave us at the mercy of hackers and various cybercriminals. The automatic connection to public Wi-Fi networks, in fact, automatically activates a connection via private VPN: in this way the data will be encrypted and, in fact, unreadable to the eyes of digital spies. The VPN connection will be indicated by a key icon at the top of the screen.
