Facebook has released an online tool that allows you to find out if Cambridge Analytica has used your personal data to convey propaganda messages
As promised in previous days, Facebook has begun to warn users involved in the Cambridge Analytica scandal through a message fixed at the top of the News section (where all the posts published by your friends are collected). In addition to warning users that their data may have been used by Cambridge Analytica to create propaganda posts, Facebook suggests what to do to protect your account and improve your privacy by removing apps that have access to your personal information.
In case you didn’t receive the message, it’s not necessarily safe, it could be that Facebook is simply late. In order for users to find out if their personal information has ended up in the hands of Cambridge Analytica, Facebook has created an online tool that tells every user registered with the social network if their information has been used fraudulently by the US company. Here’s how to find out if your personal information has been shared with Cambridge Analytica.
How the tool works
From the latest information published by Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook’s blog, the users involved in the Cambridge Analytica scandal would be more than 87 million, almost double the 50 million initially announced. Among these 87 million, 214,000 would be Italian. But according to the Guarantor for the protection of personal data, the number could be higher.

Enemy number one are the apps that have access to your personal data and that we have accessed through your Facebook account. It is thanks to one of these apps (This Is Your Digital Life) that Cambridge Analytica managed to get the data of over 87 million users.
To check which apps and websites have access to your data, you need to go into Settings and click from the left column on “Apps and websites”. It will open a list of all the apps and you can decide to delete the ones you don’t use.
