Here is a list with the best extensions to use on browsers to block unwanted posts on Facebook and Twitter. Using them is super easy
There are various reasons to block unwanted posts on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. There’s always the friend who loves TV series but can’t help falling for the spoiler. Not to mention the followers who post hoaxes and wacky news. Luckily, blocking posts on social networks is very easy.
The day after the release of a new episode of Game of Thrones many people disappear from social networks and do not use WhatsApp, just to avoid an unwanted spoiler. Yet there is no need to resort to these drastic solutions to avoid unpleasant anticipation. To block posts, which could annoy us, it is enough to use normal extensions. Many of them can be found on major browsers, such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Microsoft Edge. Here’s what extensions to use to block unwanted posts on both Facebook and Twitter.
Blocking Facebook Posts
To block unwanted posts on Facebook just use FB Purity, an extension that is compatible with most web browsers. By default, the extension blocks spoilers, video game news and requests and invitations to various Facebook games. It also avoids displaying sponsored posts and those containing spam. Obviously the app is highly customizable. Once you’ve downloaded it, just go under Newsfeed Filters to decide what to display and what to block. To do this just enter keywords, but also whole sentences, in the Text Filter section. For example, if we don’t want to anticipate Game of Thrones, we enter the name of the TV series and also that of some main characters such as Jon Snow or Arya Stark. At the end just click on Save and Close to give validity to our changes.
Blocking posts on Twitter
On Twitter there are several extensions similar to FB Purity, such as Open Tweet Filter or Larry filter for Twitter. These work on both Chrome and Firefox. Using them is very easy. Just install them on our web browser and then customize them by entering keywords related to the posts we never want to see on Twitter. There are also several applications similar to these extensions to use on your smartphone to avoid suffering spoilers on mobile.
