Here comes CloudBook, Microsoft’s answer to Google’s Chromebooks

The budget laptop market could soon be enriched by a new player. Next May 2, Microsoft presents CloudBook

With the computer market in slight recovery compared to the past, an increasing number of manufacturers try to enter the market with the hope of being able to carve out a “place in the sun”. Microsoft, which has been in the industry for a few years now with the Surface Book, hopes instead to be able to conquer new slices of users and is preparing to present a new laptop.

According to the usual well-informed, in fact, the house of Redmond is preparing an event to launch the CloudBook, an inexpensive notebook designed for students, schools and those looking for devices suitable for web browsing, editing and creating text documents and spreadsheets. In short, a laptop not suitable for gaming and computer graphics, but one that may have more of a market than you think. Just take a look at the world of Chromebooks, the low-cost computers with Chrome OS on board: although they are not equipped with very advanced features, these mid-range devices have taken the place of Windows in the hearts of many users.

Microsoft CloudBook, presentation date, features, price

On the technical specifications of the CloudBook is still not given to know much, although many analysts think it may inherit some of the components of the Surface Pro. The most interesting feature, however, should be represented by the operating system: the CloudBook will mount Windows 10 Cloud, a revised and adapted version of the Microsoft OS that should allow the installation of only certified applications and software and, above all, not too heavy.

As for the cost, however, it is assumed that the list price is less than 500 euros: with many Chromebook below this threshold and the new iPad priced around 400 euros, the next cheap notebook Windows 10 would risk being automatically cut out of the market. The wait, however, will not last forever: the presentation of the CloudBook is set for next May 2, 2017 in that of New York: by that date we will know everything about the rival Chromebook weblog Microsoft.
