Gucci sneakers become virtual: you can only wear them online

The Gucci maison launches its first pair of virtual sneakers within reach of any pocket to be worn, however, only online: they cost $11.99, about 10 euros

A pair of sneakers signed Gucci that cost only 10 euros, but there is a limit: you can only wear them online. The new shoes of the famous fashion house are the result of the collaboration with the fashion-tech app of the Belarusian design studio Wanna, which allows you to try on shoes virtually before deciding whether to buy them or not.

Wanna specializes in using augmented reality to create 3D models of sneakers and watches that can be tried on virtually and its services were already used by brands such as Reebok, Nike, Puma and Farfetch. The shoes of the various brands were not only available online, after trying them on the user could buy them. Gucci’s project, however, turns everything upside down: the Virtual 25 sneakers designed by creative director Alessandro Michele do not exist in reality: users who buy them will be able to wear them only online, as a sort of filter with which to take pictures to show off on the web. The cost, then, is really low: you can put them on your feet for just 11.99 dollars, about 10 euros at the current exchange rate.

Wanna, Gucci and the virtual fashion of the fashion-tech app

The design studio Wanna has launched the fashion-tech app Wanna Kicks available both for Android and iOS devices. By downloading the app, users can use it to try on shoes from well-known brands, take photos of themselves and decide whether or not to buy them. Simply choose the shoes to try on and frame your feet to see them overlaid and figure out whether or not you might like them. Like other well-known brands including Puma, Nike and Reebok, Gucci had digitized its sneaker catalog for the fashion-tech app, so potential customers could try on the various models.

The launch of Gucci’s inexpensive Virtual 25 sneakers goes beyond the app’s function: there is no physical version of the shoes, so they can only be worn online as a virtual accessory. This is the first step towards a true revolution in the fashion world, which is entering the digital products sector with creations at prices accessible to all, to be shown off only online in the world of virtual reality.

Gucci’s Virtual 25 sneakers: how much they cost

Innovation for Gucci passes through digital shopping and virtual reality. Some time ago, the haute couture maison had dedicated to Generation Z a clothing line for Pokémon Go avatars, getting a good response. This time, the fashion house is raising the bar with Virtual 25 shoes designed by Alessandro Michele, which can be purchased for $11.99 from the Gucci app, about 10 euros at the current exchange rate, or $8.99 from the Wanna app, which is equivalent to about 7.50 euros.
