Google releases the new version de Play Store. There are many new features, starting with a new design and functionality that allows a faster search for apps
The Google Play Store gets a makeover and aligns itself with the “Material design”, that is the stylistic language now standard in all Google products. Android and Chrome OS users can already use the Play Store with the new interface, engineered to make navigation faster and easier.
The main changes in the new Play Store are three: the complete adoption of Material design, a new navigation bar and a new display of individual apps with more information for the user. The icons also change and this will force the developers of the apps on the Play Store to make small adjustments so that their apps are displayed in a way that conforms and harmonizes with the rest of the content. The result is a simplified interface, with fewer disturbing elements for the user and the possibility to search more effectively for an app or game within the huge catalog available on the Play Store.
Google Play Store: what’s new
With the graphical update of the Google store, there is also a new navigation bar at the bottom on mobile devices and a new navigation bar on the left on tablets and Chrome OS. Games and apps are now accessible from two different icons in order to make it easier for users to find them. When users find the app or game they are looking for, then, the new layout presents richer information at the top of each page. This helps users decide whether to install the app. As for the new icons, however, for this novelty to be fully visible to the user we will have to wait for developers to comply with the guidelines provided by Google.
Two billion users on the Play Store
Google says that there are over two billion active users on the Play Store every month. The introduction of Material design, new navigation bars and new icons according to the Mountain View giant will allow these users to find the right app or game faster. With the new interface, Google says, the store is “cleaner and more premium.” The new Play Store design is currently being released and is not yet available to everyone, but it won’t be long before it is. The updated version of the app is 16.2.25 and those who are in a hurry to see the new Material design on the store just have to download the APK file of the app and install it manually. Or wait a few days at most.
