Google Pixel Watch, the first smartwatch with a camera

The Google Pixel Watch could be the first wearable device produced by the Mountain View-based company. Here’s what it will look like

Good news for Google fans. The Mountain View giant would seem to have finally decided to produce its first smartwatch. In fact, soon could see the light of the Google Pixel Watch already expected last year on the occasion of the presentation of third-generation Pixel smartphones.

But so it was not and the U.S. giant seemed to have shelved this project until a few days ago when some editors of the online magazine “Lets Go Digital”, sifting through the patents filed have come across a particular project presented by the Californian company. Towards the middle of 2017, Google has filedĀ  a patent for the realization of a smartwatch with a particular feature and how much singular: the presence of a camera.

Google Pixel Watch: the new patent

It seems that the smartwatch thought by the engineers of Mountain View would integrate a camera positioned in the center of the front dial. The drawings in the patent show a circular case with a small circle inside the display. The name of the patent does not leave a shadow of doubt: Camera Watch. An important innovation in the panorama of wearable devices that could usher in a new course paving the way for new wearable devices equipped with a camera. The idea is not new, there are several companies that are working on the hypothesis of inserting a camera directly into the smartwatch, but so far no one has had the courage to launch the device on the market.

Google Pixel Watch: when the debut?

For now all is silent. Google has not yet released official statements on the matter, but many are ready to bet that the Google Pixel Watch could be launched as early as next October, during the presentation of the Pixel 4. After all, the clues on the imminent arrival of the Google Pixel Watch are all there. The discovery of the patents is just the latest step, just think of the recent acquisition of the smartwatch division of Fossil, as well as the publication, last February, of two job ads aimed at finding experts in the design of wearable devices. A few more months and we’ll surely know more
