Google Pixel 2 coming at the end of the year with interesting news

Google already working on the successors of the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones and maybe even on a low cost version. Unknown on the hardware compartment

The rumors circulating on the net – while we are still waiting for the Google Pixel to arrive in Italy – already talk about the second generation of Mountain View smartphones and new features such as water resistance, an improved camera and, perhaps, a new cheaper model.

The first, and only, rumors about the Google Pixel 2 come from 9to5Google and from one of their anonymous sources that, as the site’s editorial staff points out, has proven reliable in the past. The first information, although we are really still in a preliminary stage of development, reports the possible presence of a waterproof shell, or water resistant, even in immersion, and of course dust. Una caratteristica che consentirebbe ai futuri smartphone di Mountain View di allinearsi con altri top di gamma e, nello specifico, con il Samsung Galaxy S8 e l’Apple iPhone 2017, anch’essi attesi nel corso di quest’anno.

Google Pixel 2: fotocamera migliorata

Altra indiscrezione riguarda il comparto fotografico che già rappresenta uno dei punti forti dell’attuale generazione. Google, secondo la fonte di 9to5Google, avrebbe intenzione di migliorarlo ulteriormente. Come? Con caratteristiche “extra” non meglio precisate. We know that Google itself had mentioned – last November – a limited ability of Pixel smartphones to ensure good quality shots in low light conditions, and the source only confirms that BigG is working on this aspect by focusing on technical improvements to the camera and not on an increase in the number of megapixels of the main sensor. We’ll see.

How will the Google Pixel 2 look

Everyone speculates about improvements from a hardware point of view, such as processor, graphics card, amount of RAM – to stay technologically in step with the competition – but at the moment there’s still nothing certain. 9to5Google about the chipset reports various versions being tested on two prototypes of the future Google Pixel 2. Mountain View would be experimenting with a solution with a Snapdragon 83x processor, the other with Intel chips. The hypothesis of a collaboration with MediaTek seems, by now, archived, while we return to talk about a generic “custom chipset” made specifically for Google.

Coming a cheaper version

The source of 9to5Google also reports a price increase of the Pixel 2 of at least 50 dollars. A detail that will certainly not please those who already considered the current Pixel and Pixel XL rather expensive. The good news, if you can call it that, is that Google is planning to produce a third device – codenamed “Pixel 2B” – with less advanced technical features sold at a lower cost but that should, however, be able to count on the same Android updates of the two “big brothers”. It is not yet clear if it will be a model destined to the global market or on sale only in some emerging countries.
