Google Chat introduces new and important news for messages in rooms: the changes coming from November 16
Important news are coming for the Google Chat that is part of Workspace. The Mountain View giant has announced on its blog that from November 16 messages in the rooms will change, so as to make conversations simplified and the chat more flexible.
Google’s revolution began a few months ago with the transformation of G Suite in Google Workspace, a single environment dedicated to smart working workers at the time of the lockdown for the Covid-19 pandemic. The new “space” groups together all the apps dedicated to productivity and there are also those of messaging, such as Meet for video conferences and especially Google Chat for conversations. For this reason, Google gives the possibility to users to send messages in rooms without creating very long threads by default.
Google Chat, what changes for rooms
Until now, creating a virtual room the conversations in Google Chat were grouped in threads, with the risk of becoming very long. Now instead by creating a new virtual room for users of a conversation, threads will be removed by defined settings. Only if the administrator or user activates them, then they will be usable.
Google’s decision comes to create a more flexible and easy to follow type of discussions. Also, administrators will be able to decide to enable or disable chat history. For previously created and existing virtual rooms, however, threads will remain.
Google Chat, who will be able to use the new feature
The Mountain View giant continues to make improvements to its Google Workspace launched just a month ago and which aims to replace Microsoft’s Office 365 in accompanying smart workers. The upcoming new feature for Google Chat will be released starting November 16 and Google in its official blog lets it be known that it should be available for all users within 3 days.
The new room setup for Google Chat is available for Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education, Enterprise for Education and Nonprofits customers.
