Google Assistant can also be used in incognito mode

Google’s digital assistant now has a Guest Mode: no data recorded, searches and voice commands incognito

It’s time for new features dedicated to security for Google. It’s the incognito mode for Google Assistant that allows the user to use the digital assistant without having to give it too much personal data. A mode similar to incognito on browsers, then, that serves to use Assistant while maintaining a little more privacy.

The new incognito mode of Google Assistant comes along with other features to defend personal data on Google products and services. Data that very often end up under attack by groups of cyber criminals, who try to steal sensitive data such as electronic payment methods. Another feature on which the Mountain View company is focusing a lot, for example, is that of security alerts, alerts visible directly while using the browser ready to be triggered in case one of the accounts saved in the Chrome password manager has a username or password (or both) that are already in the hands of Web criminals due to a previous “data breach”.

Google Assistant and incognito mode: how to set it up

After the incognito mode present on Chrome, as well as on all other apps born in the headquarters of the big G, Google has decided to integrate in its virtual assistant the feature to be able to access it without revealing too much information about their searches or activities. Google Assistant will in fact also work in what has been called Guest Mode.

As stated in a dedicated post on Google’s blog by Vice President of Product Rahul Roy-Chowdhury the way to use the guest feature is as easy as it is functional: “With a simple voice command, you can turn on Guest Mode and interactions with the assistant while you’re using this mode will not be saved in your account. You can deactivate Guest mode at any time to get the full, personalized experience of the Google Assistant again.”

Google and personal data: how they are treated

The new feature, therefore, will make even more selective retention of user data that until now was possible to manage manually, making directly the cancellation, or waiting for the canonical Google times established in 3, 18 or 36 months from the registration of data. To access their choices in terms of privacy and security, Big G has also integrated a new voice search key that aims to simplify the life of users of the voice assistant.

In fact, asking Google Assistant “is my Google account safe?” or similar search keys, the good helper will show on the display of your device the screen dedicated to security settings. No more searching through the settings, then, but a direct and fast command to keep your personal data under control.
