Galaxy A52, Samsung’s affordable smartphone with 5G

Samsung is working on its new smartphone with mid-range 5G connectivity at an affordable price: what the Galaxy A52 will look like

5G connectivity within everyone’s reach. This seems to be Samsung’s strategy as it prepares to launch its new Galaxy A52 5G mid-range smartphone. New rumors confirm an upcoming model for the South Korean company equipped with a Soc Qualcomm Snapdragon 750 5G.

Samsung with the new smartphone shows that it wants to consolidate itself as a manufacturer of budget phones with 5G connectivity and repeat the success of Galaxy A51 5G. To reveal the first characteristics of the new model is the benchmark portal Geekbench: the new model number SM-A526B receives 298 in single-core and 1001 points in multi-core. Values that indicate lower performance than its predecessor, which had reached respectively 700 and 1800 points in the same categories. According to GSMArena, these values should not worry: they would refer to a pre-production model of the Galaxy A52 5G, while the one that will arrive on the market will be more powerful.

Galaxy A52 5G, the known characteristics

The new benchmarks published by the Geekbench portal report the characteristics of the SM-A526B model, which would correspond to the Galaxy A52 5G coming from Samsung. The new mid-range smartphone will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750 5G processor, coupled with a Snapdragon X52 modem, so as to ensure support for the 5G connectivity standard.

From the data reported in the benchmark also emerge important information about the memory: the smartphone will be equipped with at least 6 GB of RAM, but it could be distributed with different cuts of memory and therefore in multiple versions. In addition, the pre-installed software could be Android 11.

Also, it is not excluded that Samsung may decide to launch the successor of Galaxy A51 not only in 5G version, but also in 4G LTE connectivity variant.

Galaxy A52 5G, the camera compartment

New details also emerge for the camera compartment, which on the back of the phone will be equipped with a four-sensor configuration and most importantly could count on the support of optical image stabilization (OIS).

The main sensor could be 64-megapixel, with a significant upgrade from the 48-megapixel main sensor of the Galaxy A51 5G camera compartment. Among the secondary sensors, there will be a macro, but no zoom lens.

Galaxy A52 5G, when it arrives

Among the nine phones registered by Samsung in South Korea last January is also the Galaxy A52 model, which could be released as early as the end of 2020 or at most in early 2021.

According to a report last June, new features of the Galaxy A52 could include wireless charging, in order to strengthen Samsung’s smartphone competitiveness even in the mid-price range.
