Free Mobile, assigned the prefix to the new Italian operator

By the end of the year, the French company Iliad will enter the Italian market with the operator Free Mobile that will use some frequencies left free by Wind-Tre

The landing of the new French operator Free Mobile in the Italian market continues in forced stages. After the completion of the merger between Wind and Tre that has freed up some frequencies purchased by the French company, Free Mobile has also received the prefix that it will be able to use for its own telephone numbers.

The aim of the French company is to impose itself immediately on the Italian market, nipping at the heels of companies with years of experience in the sector. The fourth Italian telephone operator will try to propose also in Italy the same kind of offers already launched in France and in other countries all over the world: a monthly subscription including calls, SMS and data traffic that can be used in more than thirty countries all over the world, without having to pay for roaming. Free Mobile’s goal is to activate the service in Italy by the end of the year.

Free Mobile’s Italian prefix

The Ministry of Economic Development has assigned Free Mobile the prefix to be used in their phone numbers. All users who purchase a Free Mobile card will get a number with the prefix 351 followed by an 8 or a nine. Therefore, when activating a Free Mobile card the number assigned will have the following form: +3518xxxx and +3519xxxx. The service should guarantee connection to both 3G and 4G networks from the start.
