Trump’s promises to favor the domestic market would have pushed the two big companies to move the production of displays from China to the United States
First American, as the new U.S. President Donald Trump has been saying for months. And it is probably for the fear of seeing the cost of its products rise that Foxconn is thinking of opening a new factory in the U.S.A.
According to what reported by the Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei, the Taiwanese manufacturer of electronic components would be ready to move the production of displays from China to the U.S. territory. Apple would also participate to the project, willing to share part of the 7 billion dollars needed for the construction of the new structure. A joint venture, the one between Cupertino and Foxconn, not accidental. The Asian company in fact has worked for years for Apple, dealing with the assembly of most of the devices of the bitten apple. To announce the project has been Terry Gou, president of the Taiwanese multinational.
Lower costs for Foxconn
Foxconn therefore would be decided to delocalize in the United States. Always referring to the Japanese news, the Taiwanese company could choose as location of the new factory the state of Pennsylvania. According to what Gou says, at the base of the choice there would be an economic motivation: producing the displays would cost less than importing them from China. Especially after the words pronounced by Trump in the election campaign and confirmed during his inaugural speech: First American.
