FIFA 22, no Juve, Roma, Lazio and Atalanta: the names

This year too, the ballet of the rights for the names of soccer clubs and players is back: Juventus FC, AS Roma, SS Lazio and Atalanta BC have made agreements only with Konami, that’s how they will be called on FIFA 22.

This year too, the problem of the rights to exploit the names of some soccer clubs in video games is back. In this case on FIFA 22, coming very soon with a lot of news but without the official names of Juventus FC, AS Roma, SS Lazio and Atalanta BC.

The problem is always the same: the top soccer clubs “sell” their name exclusively to a single game developer, usually with a multi-year agreement (and, in fact, on FIFA Juve is no longer called Juve since FIFA 20). So, according to the agreements, the clubs are found with their real name either on FIFA or on Pro Evolution Soccer (which from this year, in turn, changes its name).

Juve, Roma, Lazio e Atalanta: i nomi

In virtù degli accordi presi dai singoli club con Konami e EA Juve, Roma, Lazio e Atalanta saranno presenti con i nomi ufficiali solo su PES, cioè su eFootball. Su FIFA 22, invece, questi club si chiameranno rispettivamente:

  • Piemonte Calcio
  • Roma FC
  • Latium
  • Bergamo Calcio

I giocatori di FIFA 22

Come detto, però, al contrario dei club i giocatori ci saranno anche su FIFA 22 in virtù di un altro accordo sui diritti: the one between Electronic Arts and FIFPro, that is, the Fédération Internationale des Associations de Footballeurs Professionnels, which represents the interests of professional footballers around the world.

Consequently, every player of the four Italian clubs will be present on FIFA with his name, surname and face, but without the logos of the club he plays for.
