Fifa 19, Dagnolf96 and the esports career: in Italy it’s not easy

“In Italy there are the possibilities, but it would take a great team to start the movement”

His name is Daniele Tealdi, aka “Dagnolf96”, and he is a promise of eSport made in Italy, a real revelation in this season of Fifa 19. Originally from Turin, almost 23 years old, he dreams of winning the Champions League with his PlayStation 4. And who knows, maybe he won’t be able to do it, since he will be the only Italian representative in the eChampions League next April 26-27: here he will fight for access to the finals, on May 31 at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

In an exclusive interview with Calciomercato.com Daniele told how difficult it is to pursue an esports career in Italy, which is why he wants to win as many titles as possible: “The more Italians qualify, the more they help the movement to grow collectively. Germany, northern countries: they have more means than many of us and many internal movements that allow to train and improve each other, something that in Italy is missing and it seems incredible that it is missing” – explained the young man to the website.

The qualification for Atlanta gave him great satisfaction: “They were the last qualifications, during the year I never managed to get to the bottom, but in the last two-three weeks I saw that the level of play was higher, it was as if I had learned something more. I felt that I could qualify, then there is also a factor of luck: if you put your own effort, you can bring home the qualification, but without luck and meeting immediately the sacred monsters is almost impossible to qualify” – he said.

His dream is to win the Champions League with his team, Juventus. Among his favorite champions he mentions Del Piero and Cristiano Ronaldo, although in the game he declares, “This year I can not do without Mbappé TOTY, he is incredible and does everything: he scores, he brings up the team. But my favorite is Ruud Gullit, because he is unique: I also like Vieira but he is replaceable, there is no one as complete as Gullit. You can put him practically everywhere”.

A job in all respects that of  “Dagnolf96”, even if he is about to graduate in Communication Sciences and would like to be a journalist. During the interview he repeated several times how much the electronic sports sector is struggling to grow in Italy. “There has definitely been a social boom, the public is there and follows: it is not lacking compared to the rest of the world, there are also in Italy the interested and I receive hundreds of messages, and I am smaller than veterans like Daniele Paolucci or Fabio Denuzzo. In Italy there are possibilities, but it would take a great team to start the movement” – he commented.

But this is a thought of many people since a long time, there is a lack of recognition and, above all, a regulation, also from the point of view of salary and protection of the professional player.
