Disney has created the real Star Wars lightsaber: the video

Disney has created a real lightsaber: it will be available for purchase on the Galactic Starcruiser, which will open its doors (pardon me, boarding ramps) in 2022.

The lightsaber was one of the objects of desire for those who were children in the early 2000s. Part of the merchandising associated with the prequel trilogy in fact involved “retractable” lightsabers for the first time “dual-jet” lightsabers, such as the one that appears in the films in the hands of Darth Maul (for the uninitiated: the evil Jedi with the red and black face). However, it was a removable staff enhanced by a lighting effect and interactive sounds, which changed depending on the movements made with the not-so-realistic Jedi artifact.

How the “real” Star Wars lightsaber works

In the meantime, technology has gradually made lightsabers less “clumsy” in real life, but this time Disney seems to be preparing for a considerable qualitative leap, setting aside once and for all the retractable system in favor of the decidedly more realistic effect that you can see in the attached video.

Not many details are yet known about a product that Disney fleetingly unveiled at an April press conference and again with a 14-second-long teaser. However, some clever minds of the internet have rummaged through the patents of the house of Mickey Mouse, unearthing an idea that could be the basis of the new likely galactic weapon. Specifically, it would be a roll, comparable to a removable meter, placed in the hilt of the sword, able to shoot out and convey a light to reproduce the iconic luminescence effect.

Where and when will it be possible to buy the new lightsaber of Disney

Probably we will know more when it will be finally opened to the public the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, where the new model of lightsaber should be a key part of the experience. The opening date is currently set for 2022.

By next year, fans of Lucas’ saga will be able to experience firsthand a two-day adventure that will put them in the shoes of the films’ protagonists. Theme park goers will sleep in the cabins of the intergalactic vehicle, having the opportunity to learn the ship’s operation and controls, train for upcoming battles and interact with the crew, which will include some of the stars of one of the most famous science fiction franchises ever created.

On their “return to Earth,” guests of the Galactic Starcruiser may have the opportunity to take home the most coveted souvenir from the “galaxy far, far away” – that’s right, it could be an authentic lightsaber.
