Coordinator Links, the virus that affects Macs

New Mac virus that, fortunately, is more annoying than dangerous. Every time we access the web it floods us with unsolicited advertisements

New wave, in the last few days, of a Mac virus that is quite annoying, although not very dangerous. It is called “Coordinator links”, and it is basically an adware specifically for Apple operating systems.

Technically, Coordinator links is a “browser hijacker”, which means that it is a virus that acts by changing the settings of the browser you use to access the Web. Several infection methods have already been detected by computer security experts: free software downloads, browser add-ons and extensions, torrent files and more. In some cases, it is hidden among the so-called “bloatware”, i.e. the almost useless software that is included in the installation packages of free apps. In this case, in order to avoid the infection, all you need to do is to choose custom installation and defragment all ozpional software “offered” in the bundle.

How Coordinator link virus for Mac works

When a Mac is infected with Coordinator link you can see it right away the first time you open the browser: the virus provides for opening a huge amount of unwanted and very annoying pop-up advertising windows. The user experience of the browser is greatly affected, sometimes the app even crashes and in the worst cases it becomes almost impossible to browse the web. Otherwise, fortunately, it seems that Coordinator links does not do anything else and has been created only to scam advertising networks by forcing the user to watch advertisements.

You can search for them one by one and remove them manually, but it is neither convenient nor recommended – we might be touching something it is better not to touch, doing further damage. Moreover, after cleaning the system files, we will have to proceed to uninstall additional components installed by the virus on each of the browsers we have on our Mac.

Unfortunately, however, there is a much easier and safer way to get rid of this virus quickly: Coordinator link is easily detected by many antivirus programs, most of the most popular and popular ones.
