The second season of Bridgerton will not arrive on Netflix before 2022, as we know the pandemic and the security measures taken to preserve the cast have created a major slowdown in the production of new episodes. Now, however, we are moving forward quickly and Netflix has released a preview of the second season.
To unveil the few seconds of the new season of Bridgerton were the authors of the first live streaming event on the Netflix platform: thanks to Tudum and the few seconds of video fans were satisfied with so much anticipation. Bridgerton has literally conquered the audience with the first season. The adventures of Daphne and the Count give way to the older brother Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma. In the first images released by the platform we know the debut of the three new entries: Simone Ashley, Charithra Chandran and Shelley Conn who will play the role of the sisters Sharma, Kate and Edwina and their mother Mary.
The new characters
The second chapter of Bridgerton takes its cue from the saga of novels by author Julia Queen and in this case from Bridgerton – The Viscount Who Loved Me that has as its central theme the search for love by his older brother Anthony. As in the novel, in Bridgerton 2, Anthony initially has to deal with Edwina, the youngest of the Sharma family.
These attentions of Anthony for the young girl will last very little. He will literally be charmed and a spark will erupt between him and Kate Sharma, his older sister. A headstrong and intelligent woman of Indian descent. Kate is played by Simone Ashley, a familiar face to the audience of Sex Education.
Mister Anthony Bridgerton in this continuation of the series undergoes a real mutation: from a man completely uninterested in love and relationships to a man in love and in communication with his feelings and emotions.
The Sharma family
After publishing the first photos and previews, the platform has described what will be the profiles and characteristics of the women of the Sharma family. Kate, the eldest sister will be the most stubborn and pigheaded. A noblewoman with a sharp intelligence and an independent spirit. Kate hopes to find love for her younger sister Edwina. The youngest of the family is a young woman, still unripe and naive, but perfect for the debut in society: charming and kind. Edwina also knows what she wants: true love.
Her mother, Mary Sharma, had true love and ran away for it. When she was young, in fact, she fell in love with an unknown merchant and went away, with him renouncing everything, title and nobility. Mary was in fact the daughter of an earl and upon her return, for the debut in London society of her daughters, she is considered an outsider from that world precisely because of the choice made in the past.
