The new MacBook Pros unveiled by Apple yesterday will cost more in Britain because of the exit from the European Union. The free-falling Dollar/Sterling exchange rate dictates this
Apple is making headlines in Britain, and not just for its newly announced products. The house of Cupertino has adjusted upwards the price list of all devices on the market with increases that, in some cases, come close to 500 pounds. And Cupertino’s little gems are already not cheap in general.
Apple explains, in a note, that the prices of its products internationally depend on several factors, including exchange rates with the local currency, import laws in force in different countries, business practices, taxes and the cost of doing business. These factors vary from region to region and over time, so prices outside the U.S. are not always in line with Apple’s official list price in Dollars. It’s yet another “price to pay” for UK citizens, following Microsoft’s already announced hike and changed game modes in Football Manager 2017. An apple a day, doesn’t keep Brexit away!
New Apple price list in Britain
Apple, without much fanfare, has completely revised the prices of all its products sold in Britain. Even those “old” or maybe already out of production. A few examples? The 13″ MacBook Air, now Apple’s cheapest laptop, starts at £949, while until yesterday morning it cost £849; while the 11″ MacBook Air – no longer in production – now costs £749.
