Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro are the ideal top of the range for gaming enthusiasts: super powerful, flashy and liquid-cooled, like computers
Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro are official, two absolute top of the range devices – especially the Pro variant – designed to offer maximum performance to gaming enthusiasts or simply to those who demand from their smartphones the best technology around, especially in terms of display responsiveness.
The new Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro integrate some essential confirmations, such as the refresh rate of the display at 144 Hz, and significant improvements, such as the reaction time of the same input contained in just 8.3 ms. Very advanced is the liquid heat dissipation system, which seems borrowed from the gaming computer segment: there are a large liquid cooling plate and tube, and a copper substrate, elements that help keep Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro cool thanks also to the contribution of 11 temperature detectors crucial in heat management.
Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro, what they look like
Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro share a large 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and an impressive 1,300 nits of maximum brightness. Very high refresh rate, even by today’s standards: 144 Hz, with a touch detection frequency of 720 Hz and a lag, ie a response delay, contained in just 8.3 milliseconds.
While the display is clearly geared to deliver the high performance that gaming enthusiasts need, so are the chips: Black Shark 4S relies on Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 870 with a maximum frequency of 3.2 GHz, while the latest “top” Snapdragon 888+ has been preferred on Black Shark 4S Pro.
A further difference concerns the cameras, indeed the single main rear camera of 48 megapixels f/1.79 on Black Shark 4S and 64 MP f/1.79 on Black Shark 4S Pro. Both have an 8-megapixel f/2.4 120-degree wide-angle and finally a 5 MP f/2.4 macro; 20 MP f/2.45 is the front camera for selfies.
Nourished connectivity compartment of two of the most powerful smartphones around: 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Dual nano SIM Card, Wi-Fi 6 ax, Bluetooth 5.2, AGPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, Galileo, QZSS, USB-C input, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC.
The fingerprint reader is located below the screen, the battery is on both 4,500 mAh with 120-watt fast charging for lightning fast “recovery times”. The user interface is the JoyUI 12.8 based on Android 11.
Dimensions: 163.69 × 76.21 x 9.9 mm for 210 and 220 grams of weight, respectively for 4S and 4S Pro.
Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro, how much they cost
Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro have been announced in China with prices starting from the equivalent of 363 euros for Black Shark 4S in 8+128 GB configuration and from around 645 euros for 4S Pro in 12+256 GB configuration,
Preorders have already started, while they will be available starting tomorrow, October 15. They will almost certainly arrive in Europe but, if they do, it is unlikely that the price will be the Chinese one converted into euros: higher taxes and logistics costs will require a higher outlay.
