Apple’s WWDC2021 finally has an official date and schedule. The announcement about the conference that Apple organizes for developers around the world every year comes along with an official image that has fueled a number of rumors: Apple might also take advantage of the stage to announce some hardware innovations as indeed happened several times in the past, the last one in 2019 with the Mac Pro.
The WWDC2021 will unveil to all developers the future of Apple’s platforms, so iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. The event will be free for all Apple developer members and will provide them with new information about the technologies, tools, and frameworks they rely on. The opportunity offered by Apple to developers is a direct interaction with Apple engineers to get guidance on creating innovative and platform-differentiating apps and games. In the coming days, Apple will share more information about WWDC to interested parties via the Apple Developer app that can be downloaded via the App Store.
The WWDC2021 schedule
WWWDC2021 will open its doors on Monday, June 7 at 10 a.m. PDT, 7 p.m. in Italy. It starts with the presentation of the updates coming by the end of the year on Apple platforms. All of this is strictly streaming on apple.com, the Apple Developer apps, Apple TV and YouTube.
Three hours later, 2 p.m. PDT, it will be time for an in-depth look at new tools, technologies and advancements on Apple’s platforms that will help developers build better and better apps.
Thursday, June 10, will be the Apple Design Awards, annual honors that celebrate the creativity and attention to detail of those who develop for and with Apple.
These are the most important milestones Cupertino has so far decided to share, but the schedule will predictably be busier than anticipated.
It’s Apple itself that specifies how WWDC2021 will be a great opportunity to get one-on-one lab consulting with over 1,000 experts with Apple on their chests to delve into API usage, the latest best practices, and discuss user interfaces and app design.
What’s actually expected
As mentioned, Apple may not have fully unveiled the contents of WWDC2021. To start the “machine” of indiscretions is the official cover of the event: three Memoji, the emoticons of Apple devices, looking with interest at the screens of as many MacBooks.
So in the last few hours many informants have said they are sure that Apple will use the event to unveil the new MacBook Pro that has been rumored for some time. Apple would not be new to “subliminal messages” of this type, so the chances of this happening are far from negligible.
The new MacBook Pro is expected to have a new aesthetic and technical design, with an evolution of the chips Made in Cupertino last year. Rumor has it they may be called Apple Silicon M1X, with Bloomberg anticipating a 10-core CPU on both the 8-core and 16-core GPU variants.
There would then be a new 14- or 16-inch display with miniLED technology, a return to MagSafe, HDMI and microSD inputs, and finally an aesthetic aligned with the recent iPad Pro.
