Apple Music coming to PS5? On Reddit a clue

Listening to your Apple Music on PlayStation will soon be possible: multiple clues all point in the same direction, one was posted on Reddit

From Reddit comes news of a possible arrival, even on PlayStation 5, of the Apple Music app to listen to music while playing. It’s already possible on PS5, but only by connecting a Spotify account. The Reddit user, however, unexpectedly saw the option to download Apple Music on his console Sony next gen.

It would not be, by the way, the only sighting of the kind and this seems to confirm that the ability to connect your Apple Music account to Sony’s console is in the home stretch. But it hasn’t arrived yet, since those who have tried to do so have received, in any case, an error message. Also, don’t forget that on PS4 and PS5 you can already use the Apple TV app, so it seems pretty logical that one day you’ll be able to do the same with Apple’s music service. When, however, is a mystery.

Apple Music on PS5: the clue

Let’s go in order: everything stems from a post published a few days ago by a Reddit user, in which you can see a picture taken with your phone to the TV screen. The interface you see is that of the PlayStation 5, in the Music section. You can clearly see the option to connect Spotify, offered as before, and the icon of Apple Music with, on the right, the “Download” button.

As soon as the news spread many tried to replicate what was shown on Reddit and someone appeared the same screen, but only after creating a new account in the United States. No reports, however, from users in other parts of the world.

In all cases, however, when trying to install Apple Music on PS5 the same error appeared: “This app can only be used on PS4”. It’s clear, though, that something is moving.

The expansion of Apple Music

It’s also clear, and not just from this appearance on PlayStation 5, that Apple is trying to bring its music subscription to more and more platforms. April 2020, for example, saw the arrival of the app for Samsung’s Tizen-powered Smart TVs.

Apple Music, then, is one of the services Apple has included in the maxi Apple One subscription, which packs (in Italy) Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and 50GB of iCloud storage at a total price of €14.95 per month (€19.95 for the family plan).
