One of the first 200 computers made by Steve Jobs, the Apple-1, was beaten at auction for a value there 375 thousand dollars, it is a record for the model
In 1976 Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs made about 200 computers, obviously primitive if compared to those of today but revolutionary for that time, which they called Apple-1. Nowadays there are about 70 perfectly working Apple-1s and recently one of them has been auctioned for a record amount of 375 thousand dollars.
According to the company that conducted the auction, the Apple-1 model belonged to a person who bought it directly from The Byte Shop, the first store to which Jobs and Wozniak sold the licenses to market their first Apple-1. For this reason, the figure of the auction has reached the absolute record for an Apple device of this type. And to think that in 1982 the same owner tried to resell to Steve Wozniak the vintage computer for a sum close to $ 10 thousand but never received an answer from the computer scientist. A non-response that now has made his fortune because after 42 years the price of the computer has risen up to a value of 375 thousand dollars.
The Apple-1
For a “standard” Apple-1 computer 375 thousand dollars are a record figure but this kind of computer so dated are sought after among fans. Suffice it to say that an Apple-1, very rare because it has a PCB “green” empty that had never been sold to the public, was beaten at auction for a figure exceeding $ 800 thousand. A curiosity: the Apple-1 computer just sold for 375 thousand dollars has a particular program that allows you to capture images, lights and UV lights to be scanned to generate a 5D movie. A movie that can still be viewed today despite the dated format of the file created using the Vimeo program. This is also why the price of the computer has gone up so much. Consider that on average an Apple-1 has a market value of about $100-130 thousand.
