More and more people are interested in creating and sending GIFs on WhatsApp. These particular animated images, after all, have become a real means of communication. As a matter of fact, there are applications that can be installed on your phone, useful to meet this need. However, even through WhatsApp you can make animated images to send in conversations, starting from a simple video.
It is important, however, to specify that on Android devices, currently, you can only create a GIF directly in the WhatsApp application, while on IOS is also available an internal search engine, which allows you to share and edit numerous animated images. However, making a GIF from a previously made video or one recorded at the time is really simple on both devices, just follow a few simple directions.
What is a Gif?
However, before we go any further in this regard, it’s good to specify that GIF is an acronym that stands for Graphics Interchange Format. Specifically, it is a series of digital images of bitmap type, which appeared for the first time in 1987, following an idea of Steve Wilhite, to then have a worldwide diffusion. In fact, these animated images are now outperforming the various emoji and memes, which have always been very popular.
Animated GIFs for WhatsApp: how to do it for Android users
Those in possession of an Android smartphone can create an animated GIF on WhatsApp using a video in the memory of their device, or by recording a new movie. In both cases you need to tap on the icon of WhatsApp and, once you see the home screen of the application, choose the user to whom you want to send the GIF made.
You must, then, click on the name of the user and open the conversation screen, tap on the paperclip symbol and choose from the menu proposed if you intend to create an animated GIF from a video already created or if you want to make a new one. In the first case just select the Gallery item, while in the second case select the Camera item. Whichever choice you make, you should be able to see not only the preview of the video, but also its timeline at the top of the screen.
At this point you must select the portion of the movie you want to cut, using the appropriate markers in the timeline of the screen. Una volta portata a termine tale operazione, è sufficiente premere sul pulsante GIF, per convertire il filmato in un’immagine multimediale. Per l’invio, infine, basta cliccare sul simbolo della freccia posto in basso a destra.
Gif animate per WhatsApp: come fare per chi utilizza iOS
Anche su iOS è possibile trasformare un video in una GIF, partendo da un filmato realizzato in precedenza o registrato al momento. Il procedimento è simile a quello sopra descritto, in quanto è sufficiente aprire l’applicazione di messaggistica e cliccare sulla conversazione nella quale si intende inviare la GIF. Quindi, è bene procedere facendo tap sul pulsante con il simbolo (+), che è posto nell’angolo in basso a sinistra.
Una volta aperto il menù di dialogo, è fondamentale cliccare sulla voce Libreria foto e video, in modo da scegliere un video precedentemente registrato, oppure, a seconda delle necessità, su Fotocamera, così da crearne uno nuovo. In entrambi i casi, per ottenere una GIF è indispensabile selezionare una porzione di filmato, attraverso l’ausilio dei marcatori che appaiono nella timeline, e cliccare sul pulsante GIF. Anche in questo caso per l’invio è sufficiente fare tap sul simbolo della freccia posto sempre in basso a destra.
Tuttavia, iOS permette anche di avvalersi di un motore di ricerca situato all’interno dell’applicazione, che consente di cercare una GIF e di attuare alcune modifiche prima di inviarla. Basta entrare nella conversazione desiderata, premere sul pulsante (+) e cliccare sulla voce del menù Libreria foto e video. Dunque, è sufficiente schiacciare sul simbolo della lente di ingrandimento collocato in basso a sinistra, fare tap sulla dicitura Cerca GIPHY e digitare la parola chiave utile per la ricerca della GIF. Una volta individuata basta cliccarla. Prima di inviarla, inoltre, è possibile modificarla utilizzando i pulsanti appositi.
