After the continuous threats on Play Store, Google is launching a new set of services, called Play Protect, to increase the security of its users
Security on Android smartphones is becoming an increasingly hot topic. In recent weeks there have been increasing reports of malware being spread through Google Play Store applications, and the Mountain View-based company is launching Play Protect to improve the security of its mobile operating system.
This is a whole new set of services available to users that allow them to increase the cyber security of their device and help detect attacks or threats within the Store. In order to use Play Protect, all you have to do is take your smartphone and access the “My Apps and Games” section on the Google Play Store. The service will be integrated not only in phones but in any device that has a Play Store. In addition, Google has stated that Play Protect will be constantly updated, automatically, in order to cope with new cyber risks.
How Play Protect works
The service is automatically activated when we try to download a malicious app and warns us that it is not safe, thus advising against downloading it. This system will be added to the daily scanning that Google does of the apps in the Play Store. The company has declared to analyze through its algorithm more than 50 billion applications every day. Also the “Android Device Management” function will be integrated to the Play Protect project and it will be easier to find, ring or lock an Android device remotely. It will work for smartphones, tablets and smartwatches. Play Protect will be released by Google within the next few weeks.
