Android and iOS apps to find the songs you’re listening to

Shazam is the most famous, but there are a whole series of services that allow us to discover from the smartphone the name of the songs we’re listening to

All of us, or almost, by now know Shazam. The famous application for smartphones that recognizes a song with a short listen and shows us the title and author. Shazam, however, is not the only app able to let us find out what song we are listening to on the radio, there are others available on iOS and Android that have the same function.

Simple question: what is the easiest and fastest way to understand the title of a song using an iPhone or iPad? Easy, just use Siri. Yes, Apple’s personal assistant can answer music-related questions. To do this, just press the Home button long or say “Hey, Siri” according to the default setting we have chosen for our personal assistant. At this point, all we have to do is ask the AI “What is the title of this song?” or “Or what is the name of this song?” and the AI will give us the answer in a very short time. And Siri can also do the same function on MacOS X computers.

Google Now

What if we have an Android smartphone instead? Nothing simpler. With Google Now we’ll be able to know at any time (just like Siri needs an Internet connection) the title of the song playing on the radio. To do this just say “Ok Google, what’s the title of this song?”, and that’s it. If we had also installed Shazam on the phone we can use a shortcut and say “Ok Google, Shazam this song”.

Cortana

And if we happen to hear a beautiful song while we are at the computer? No problem, on Windows 10 Cortana has a special feature to track down the playing music tracks. To activate the function just press the Cortana icon (bottom left corner of the desktop) and ask the personal assistant “Hey Cortana can you tell me the title of this song?”.

Shazam

So far we’ve often talked about Shazam, but despite its widespread popularity, there is definitely someone who doesn’t know the application. Let’s briefly explain how it works. It is a free service available for both Android and iOS that provides the name of the artist, CD and song we are listening to. Once the app is installed, all we have to do is press the Listen button for the service to recognize a song. Once the artist and song have been identified, we can also share it on our social profiles, listen to it on YouTube and many other streaming music apps. In addition, the app creates a history of our searches, so that we can find the song we’ve already searched for at any time.

SoundHound

Shazam has recently had to defend itself against fierce competition. If once the app’s monopoly was absolute now it is challenged by similar services like SoundHound. Perhaps the best alternative to Shazam at the moment. The app is available for Android, Windows Phone and iPhone. In addition to searching for a song, it has many other functions. From the main screen, for example, you can access the ranking of the most searched and tweeted songs. Or from our profile we can see the map of the songs we have searched.
