Android 10: all the new emoji available

With Android 10 also comes an update for emoji: more than 200 new emoticons were introduced, most of them dedicated to inclusivity

On yesterday, Google kicked off the launch of Android 10 and, among the many new features that characterize the latest operating system of the green robot, new emoticons were introduced. The emoji had been presented last July 17, 2019 on the occasion of World Emoji Day, the event that celebrates the use of emoticons in everyday online communication.

The new emoticons that will soon be available on all devices with Android 10, as well as with the new iOS13, portray a series of smilies dedicated to inclusivity and diversity. In particular, guide dogs, prosthetic limbs and wheelchairs appear for the first time, including a greater number of emoticons dedicated to ethnicities and different sexual genders, new animals and a brand new selection of foods and various objects. There are no less than 236 new emoji for Android, 230 included in the 2019 emoji list plus six flags that go to enrich the Emoji 1.0 collection. Not only that, there are almost 800 existing emoji that have been modified, in particular 300 gender neutral oriented emoticons have been completely revised.

Emoji 12.0: the main novelty

With Emoji 12.0 available for Android 10 it will be possible to change the skin color of emoticons. This tool will allow you to create custom emoji based on your ethnicity, allowing you to represent for the first time on Android new interracial couples.

The first smartphones to be able to use the new emoji of Android 10 are the Google Pixel, while for all other Android smartphones you’ll have to wait a couple of weeks/months, depending on the time taken by the various manufacturers to update their devices.
