Amazon Music: high quality now included in the price

Amazon follows closely behind Apple and adds free HD to its Amazon Music subscriptions: streaming beyond CD quality with less than 10 euros.

The high definition of Amazon Music streaming will be included in the price. The announcement comes directly from the e-commerce giant that has decided to add this particular service, dedicated to CD quality and higher up to that called “Ultra HD”, within the basic subscription.

Amazon’s welcome news comes at a very short distance from Cupertino’s decision to include the lossless format within the Apple Music service from next June, without any increase in the price of the subscription. With the new expansion of the catalog, the library accessible through subscription will reach the remarkable figure of 70 million songs, with a total number of subscribers that already at the beginning of 2020 stood at 55 million users, less than those of other big just like Apple and Spotify but with a potential of all respect, especially after the last integration to the music proposal.

Amazon Music HD, how it changes

To make the choice more appetizing, given the range of proposals of equal quality available on the market, Amazon has decided to keep the price fixed at 9.99 euros for the monthly subscription. Users can therefore say goodbye to the discrepancy with the previous version of Amazon Music HD, which included the addition of the lossless format for 14.99 euros/month, or an increase of 5 euros compared to the initial price.

As confirmed by Steve Boom, Vice President of Amazon Music, in a statement released to the website dedicated to the world of technology TechCrunch, the streaming service aims to reach the heights of direct competitors. “When we first launched Amazon Music HD,” Boom said, “our goal was to lead the industry by enabling music fans around the world to stream the best recording quality, the way artists intended their music to be heard.”

Amazon Music HD, the other offerings on the market

As anticipated, Amazon Music is not the first to add the ability to listen to music in the highest quality in its basic subscription. Like Apple, Spotify had also announced at the beginning of the year this decision, without however pointing out the possibility of adding a further subscription type to those already provided to enable access to lossless audio files.

To date, however, there is still no news about the launch date or prices, leaving room for action to the most aggressive competitors, to which Tidal is also added, one of the first to focus on the top version of music listening.
