Amazon, extended time for returning products: what changes in Italy

Amazon has decided to extend until May 31, 2020 the return for products purchased between February 15 and April 30. Here’s what changes

New at home Amazon: the company has announced on its blog a change in the time to make the return of a product purchased. Usually, in fact, you have the classic 15 days to send back a broken product or one that does not conform to the description or image. But in times of pandemic it is complicated to respect the limit of 15 days, especially because of late shipments and the block of sale by Amazon of products not considered essential.

For all these reasons, the e-commerce site has adopted a new policy of returns for all products purchased on e-commerce between February 15, 2020 and April 30, 2020: instead of the classic 15 days users have until May 31, 2020 to send back the goods bought. This is another initiative of Amazon to help users in this complicated period in which millions of Italians are forced in their homes because of the pandemic Covid-19.

Amazon, how the return of products changes

For the return of products Amazon has decided to meet the users who in this period may have problems in returning the goods purchased. What changes compared to the past? For all products purchased from February 15, 2020 to April 30, 2020, the return time is extended until May 31, 2020. So no longer 15 days of time, but at least one month. It does not change, however, the procedure to be followed: to make the return you need to access your account, select the order and follow all the steps to send back the goods.

At least in Italy, the new rules are also valid for the United States, Canada, Spain, France, Turkey and Holland. There is no difference if the shipment was made directly by Amazon or by a third-party seller.

Amazon, what has changed with the Covid – 19

The new returns policy is not the only novelty of this period of Amazon, indeed it is a direct consequence of the decision made a few weeks ago, namely to stop the sale of products not considered essential.

  • cibo e generi alimentari;
  • cibo e prodotti per animali;
  • forniture industriali e scientifiche;
  • prodotti e apparecchiature per la salute;
  • prodotti per la cura della casa come detersivi e saponi;
  • prodotti per la cura della persona;
  • prodotti per bambini, come ad esempio i libri.

For all products that fall into these categories, shipping is assured in 24 hours or at most a few days.

At the end of the pandemic and when there will be a loosening of security regulations, Amazon will return to selling the other products themselves, currently only insured by some third-party sellers, but with a shipment that in most cases takes at least 7-10 days.
