All new Garmin smartwatches coming in 2022

Thanks to a massive data leak, then published by a German site, we can know what smartwatches Garmin will present during 2022: the entire range will be renewed

Among the many smartwatch manufacturers Garmin has always stood out for its wearables very focused on the world of sport, especially the outdoor one. This year, in April, the presentation of the Venu 2 and Venu 2S smartwatches while still waiting for the Plus variant, of which some images have already been leaked in recent weeks.

Proprio Venu 2 Plus will be one of the many new smartwatches that Garmin will present in 2022, already starting from the CES in Las Vegas to be held from January 5 to 8. The German site WinFuture, citing confidential sources, reveals that Garmin is planning to completely renew its range: Epix Gen2, Fenix 7, Fenix 7S, Instinct 2, Instinct 2S, Venu 2 Plus are coming. What WinFuture doesn’t know yet, however, is whether all these new Garmin smartwatch models will be presented together or, as is much more likely, over the next year.

Garmin smartwatches: what’s new 2022

The first new Garmin 2022 will be the Garmin Epix Gen2, a new version of Garmin’s first GPS-enabled smartwatch for the general public, capable of showing maps on the screen. The new model will have a larger screen, a case reinforced with fiberglass and 316L stainless steel, and water resistance up to 100 meters deep.

Also coming is Garmin Fenix 7, Garmin Fenix 7S and Garmin Fenix 7X, all with a new design and new colors, but still with a built-in solar panel to increase battery life. Garmin Instinct 2 and Garmin Instinct 2S, on the other hand, will be dedicated like their predecessors to those who need an extremely durable watch.

Finally, will come Garmin Venu 2 Plus, a smartwatch opposite to those of the Instinct series because it is dedicated to an audience more attentive to design and smart functions and less to robustness and functions for outdoor life and sports. It will feature a large OLED display and will have an extra button, whose function, however, is still unknown.

The 2022 will be a golden year for smartwatches

According to data published in early December by IDC, the wearable device market is changing: fewer and fewer smart bands are being sold and more and more smartwatches, with an overall growth of 9.9% in the third quarter of 2021.

Growth that, according to several analysts, will continue sustained in 2022, which will be a great year for smartwatches. The reason is simple: after trying out the inexpensive smart bands, a lot of customers have appreciated the smart functions available and want more, so they are inclined to buy a more advanced smartwatch.

Buyings made much easier by falling prices, on the one hand, and by the presentation of more and more hardware platforms (such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100) and new operating systems (such as Google’s Wear OS).
