Streaming site Netflix has launched a new feature for the app to always find the best content in the vast catalog of movies and TV series
Netflix is back with an update, this time dedicated to the smart TV app, that promises to make it even easier to find the next movie, or why not TV series, to watch. In a clean sweep, the streaming platform has removed the Coming Soon section in favor of New and Popular. But let’s find out together what are its new features.
The newborn New and Popular section collects the legacy of the previous one, integrating some new features to meet the increasing demands of millions of users subscribed to Netflix services. Characterized by an original icon, an easily recognizable growth arrow, the section has been positioned immediately below the Home, so it can be quickly identified among all the menu items. Once logged into the area, the user will be able to scroll through the numerous carousels of show posters available in the platform’s vast catalog.
Netflix: features of the New and Popular feature
The section that just appeared on the latest release of Netflix’s smart TV app helps in searching for TV shows and movies categorized according to different criteria. Among them, you can find “New on Netflix” for all recently released content, “Top 10” for the most viewed and the titles soon to be released in the “Coming this week” and “Coming next week” carousels.
Ultimo is instead the carousel that in English appears with the name “Worth The Wait” and that in Italian has been translated with the catchy “Da attendere col fiato sospeso”. This is an overview of all future releases, among the most interesting according to the headquarters of Netflix and the general public, which will arrive on the platform in a variable time that can reach up to a year. All titles not yet on the platform can, as usual, be added to your Watchlist, so you can receive a notification via email or app once they are available for viewing. A feature that, in light of the new categories, becomes even more important given the extended timeframe of some releases on the calendar.
New and Popular on Netflix: on which devices it’s available
At the moment, this new Netflix feature is available for apps installed on smart TVs, for smart TV box keys, such as Amazon’s Fire TV Sticks, and on some consoles such as the Xbox One. All it will take is updating the app to be able to access and start using “New and Popular.” According to the platform’s statement, the feature could arrive in the near future for Web App users as well, while as far as smartphones and tablets are concerned, there is still no certain news about its integration.
