Another signal of the approach to Windows 11?
The first to give the news was the web magazine Thurrott, which reported the company’s decision published on the official website. In the information reported on the page of the divestment is also indicated the date of entry of Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro in the support of Microsoft: July 29, 2015. For the two versions just mentioned, as well as for the Pro Education and Pro for Workstation variants, the overall presence in the category stands at a total of 10 years, on par with what happened with past editions of the operating system. No worries for those who will continue to exploit the software: Redmond has ensured at least one annual update in the dedicated channel until the final stop.
Windows 10, when the retirement?
For Windows 10, the date has been set for October 14, 2025, that is, in over four years. Although all products sooner or later end up on the end-of-life list, the one related to the 10 edition of Microsoft’s Os comes partly as a bolt out of the blue. The most recent update of the document that took place last March did not report, in fact, any reference to it.
Only in the last three days we started to have information about the fate of the software, almost in conjunction with the appearance on the net of teasers relating to the event to be held on June 24. Focal point, according to the clues spread by the colossus itself, would be the launch of the new version of Os: Windows 11.
Windows 10 goodbye, welcome Windows 11?
For Microsoft is definitely a phase of great changes, inaugurated in an official way by the announcement of CEO Satya Nadella during Build 2021. With the introduction of “one of the most significant Windows updates of the last decade,” Nadella opened the door to a number of doubts and assumptions about the future of Windows as we’ve come to know it over time.
It wasn’t long from the CEO’s announcement, albeit not very revealing, to the video with the mix of Windows startup sounds, which is precisely 11 minutes long. Another signal, to add to the list, that of the invitation to the virtual meeting with a strong reference to the “magic number”: that is always “11”. That something is boiling in pot appears evident. And then there’s the report accidentally spread by the company, in which it is mentioned “Windows Sun Valley” that is the name – official or coded, it’s not clear – of the new edition of the operating system ready to debut.
For sure, we can expect an update that aims at a complete revolution in terms of user interface, such as to end in oblivion the obsolete design that we have come to know on Windows 10 and earlier. But, for now, it’s early days: we’ll have to wait a few more days to learn more.
